What is the cost?

Self-Paid:
One Bedroom:
$58.00 per day;   Cleaning fee: $32.00 one-time fee upon check-out.

Third Party Billing:
(ie. Government agency, insurance, foundations, etc.)
One Bedroom: $75.00 per day;   Cleaning fee: $32.00 one-time fee upon check-out.

A $100 deposit at check-in may be requested. A Port in the Storm rates are assessed annually, based on donations to our operations fund.

How long can I stay?

Individual stays are based on individual medical plans and patient needs.

What are the suites like?

The suites are small and cozy; they feature a separate bedroom with queen-sized bed, private washroom with bath tub and shower, and a apartment-sized, open-concept kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher and a living area with a futon that can sleep two.

How many people can stay with me?

Rooms can accomodate a family of four.

What is included?

Phone, TV, Wifi Internet, free laundry facilities, and a limited amount of free parking.

What are my responsibilities?

Please keep your suite clean (vacuum and cleaning supplies can be borrowed from the office), and follow the house rules. Upon check out, please leave the suite tidy, strip the linens from the bed and place all linens and towels in your laundry basket.

What are the house rules?

No smoking anywhere in the building or on the property (including medical marijuana), no alcohol/illegal drugs and no perfumes/scents. Guests are welcome between 9 am and 8 pm but numbers of visitors must be limited. Please be respectful of the staff/volunteers/other guests and residents. Children under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times. Guests already receiving Home Care must have transfer of Home Care arranged prior to arrival. For further information see our guest handbook provided in your suite upon check-in.

Where is A Port in the Storm located?

Our accommodations and office is located in the heart of the West Exchange District and on the edge of China Town. A Port in the Storm is a 10 minute drive from St. Boniface Hospital and a 5 minute drive from the Health Sciences Centre/CancerCare MB.

How do I make a reservation?

First time stay must be referred by a health care professional – subsequent stays may self-refer, however we will require the name and phone number of your health care professional in Winnipeg. For more information, phone our office at 204-231-0720 or email [email protected]
